Senator Carol Weston of Montville to Lead Maine Senate Republicans

Senator Weston began her legislative career in 1998, when she was elected to the Maine House of Representatives.  After serving two terms in the House, she ran for, and was elected to, the Maine Senate in 2002.  As both a House and Senate member, she has served on the Education, Health and Human Services and Utilities and Energy Committees.

In addition to representing the people of Waldo County in Augusta, Senator Weston also serves on the boards of Waldo County General Hospital, the Center for Educational Services, and the Waldo County Pre-School & Family Services Committee. As Republican Leader, Senator Weston will play a large role in unifying her caucus, and working with the Senate Democrats, to achieve fiscal responsibility, real and tangible tax relief, and affordable services, and to deliver the messages of her Republican the caucus throughout the state.

“I am honored that the people of Waldo County have re-elected me to serve them in Augusta, and that my fellow Republicans in the Senate have entrusted me to lead them throughout the 123rd Legislature,” Senator Weston said.  “This is going to be an exciting session, and there is a lot of potential to finally achieve many of our goals, like real tax relief and affordable health care.  I look forward to working with my colleagues on both sides of the aisle to make progress for the people of Maine.”
