AUGUSTA – Senator Richard Rosen, of Bucksport, has been appointed to the American Legislative Exchange Council’s Commerce, Insurance and Economic Development Task Force.  He and Senator Dana Dow, of Waldoboro, will serve as the Maine delegation on the Task Force, which includes legislators and private sector representatives from all over the country.

As a member of this Task Force, Sen. Rosen will play a major role in developing policy ideas that will promote economic freedom, private sector competition, increased employment and prosperity at the national and the local level.  Additionally, the Task Force seeks to enhance innovation and efficiencies in national and state economies, and reduce regulations that hamper economic development.

Specific areas the Commerce, Insurance and Economic Development Task Force address include workers’ compensation reform, labor deregulation, and insurance and financial services policies.  The Task Force develops model legislation to facilitate the implementation of these policies in the states and educates other American Legislative Exchange Council members through Task Force meetings, issue briefings, and special workshops throughout the country.

Sen. Rosen is looking forward to working with the rest of the members on the Commerce, Insurance and Economic Development Task Force.  “This Task Force assumes a very important role in developing quality policy proposals that will strengthen the overall economy in the country,” he said.  “Great ideas are not always specific to a single state.  The work the Task Forces does creates the potential for economic success, and by bringing together leaders from all over the country, we all have an opportunity to bounce ideas off each other and learn a tremendous amount.”

Sen. Rosen represents District 31, which includes parts of Hancock and Penobscot Counties.  He can be reached in Augusta at 287-1505, in Bucksport at 469-3779, or by e-mail at rrosen113@aol.com.
