Senator Richard
Rosen to Hold Forums on Governor’s Proposed Education Plan
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
JANUARY 11, 2007
AUGUSTA –
Senator Richard Rosen, of Bucksport, will be holding two forums in his district
to discuss Governor Baldacci’s education proposals. The first forum will take place Wednesday,
January 17th at the Seniors Room at Brewer Auditorium in Brewer, and
the second will occur Thursday, January 18th at the Alamo Theater in
Bucksport. Both forums will be held from
6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
In light of the dramatic changes being proposed for Maine’s education
system, the Senator felt is was important to allow members of the community to
voice their opinions. Reducing the
amount of school districts from 290 to 26, mandating a Principal in every
school in the state, and maintaining a 17:1 student-to-teacher ratio in middle
and high school classes are some of the plans involved in the proposal.
“Some of the potential changes are complicated, and have
caused a degree of concern among the people in my district. I want to provide them an opportunity to
articulate those concerns, and have some quality discussions with other
community members,” Senator Rosen explained.
Senator Rosen, the Assistant Senate Republican Leader, represents
District #31, which includes parts of Hancock and Penobscot Counties. He can be reached in Augusta at 287-1505, in Bucksport at
469-3779, or by e-mail at rrosen113@aol.com.
