Senator Rosen Proposes Funding Air
Monitors for Bradley
For Immediate Release
March 25, 2008
Augusta – Senator
Rosen (R-Penobscot) offered an Amendment to Senator John Martin’s (D-Aroostook)
floor amendment on surcharge fees for air quality monitors. Senator Rosen’s proposal would install air
quality monitors in Bradley using money gathered from the surcharge fee. The proposal is supported by the Department
of Environmental Protection. This is
only the beginning the floor amendment still has several hurdles it must jump
before Bradley get’s air monitors but it is a step in the right direction.
The sooting incident last winter
prompted heightened concern from already worried Bradley residents. It has been a priority of Senator Rosen’s to
get air quality monitors into Bradley. “With
the town’s close proximity to Old
Town’s Red Shield Mill
operation putting air quality monitors into Bradley is common sense. My hope is that my amendment along with
Senator Martin’s amendment is approved by the Senate and House so that DEP can
start collecting data on the air quality in Bradley.”
The town of Bradley
sponsored a community forum this year where representatives from the town, DEP,
Red Shield and Senator Rosen heard the concerns of Bradley residents.
