Senator Dave Hastings to Serve on the
Judiciary Committee

As a member of the Judiciary committee, Senator Hastings will be closely involved in all policy proposals that relate to, among other things, the judicial system organization and budget, criminal and civil procedure, child protection, civil rights, the Maine Human Rights Commission, confidentiality and privacy laws and errors and inconsistencies.

Hastings, a practicing attorney, will draw on both his private sector experience and his experience in the legislature to be an effective and vocal member of the committee.
“Legal proceedings and the judicial structure are important to Mainer’s, and it is my responsibility as a member of the Judiciary committee, and my priority as a Senator, to make sure that any policy proposals are in the best interests of the people of Maine, Senator Hastings said. “A great deal of analysis and attention is required to determine how effective a proposal will be, and what those effects will be on all parties involved. We must be sure that everyone is treated fairly in our justice system, and that justice continues to be served. I will not take this responsibility lightly.”
