Senator Dana Dow to Serve on the Labor & Marine Resources Committees

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

DECEMBER 27, 2006

Augusta – Senator Dana Dow of Waldoboro has been assigned to the Joint Standing Legislative Committees on Labor & Marine Resources for the 123rd Legislature.  Representing District 20, which includes most of Lincoln County and parts of Knox and Kennebec counties, Dow will add these two committee assignments to his list of legislative duties.

Among other issues, the Labor committee has jurisdiction over policy proposals relating to wage and hour laws, working conditions, workforce development, workers’ compensation, and the Maine State Retirement System.

As a member of the Marine Resources committee, Senator Dow will be closely involved with any policy proposals relating to commercial marine fisheries management, processing and sale of marine fish and shellfish, and aquaculture.

Senator Dow is confident he will be both a vocal and effective member of each of these committees.  “I’m excited to get started with my committee responsibilities.  I was elected by the people of District 20 to represent them in Augusta, but serving as a State Senator also involves working for the good of all of Maine’s people, and committee assignments are just one of the ways we must fulfill that obligation,” the Senator said.  “I will be a member of two important and very different, committees, and I welcome the hard work and brain power it will take to be a successful committee-member on each.”

Senator Dow can be reached by calling the Senate Republican office at 287-1505, or by calling 832-4658, or e-mailing danadow@adelphia.net.
